Individually turned laying tools are light and smooth. Each is different; some have a very straight narrow tip with a blunt end, others taper a bit more to a sharper point. Choose depending on your intended usage.
These tools may be from 4 3/8ths inches long up to 5 1/8th inches long. The thinner ones are about 3/8th inch in diameter, with the heftier ones up to 1/2 inch thick. The thicker shafts are more comfortable if you happen to have arthritic joints. Some of these have loose rings in the turnings.
These are labeled with the wood species so you can see how they look, but most of these have gone on to new homes. The "Imitation" ones are Dymondwood, original stock, from my stash. When this material is gone there will be no more. There are substitutes coming on the market which I have not yet tried. Email to find out what is in stock, or to have your own choice custom made.
