About Us

Knotwork began many years ago when there were few bobbin makers, so I had to learn to make my own.  I was very fortunate in getting a lesson from Harvey Helmke, who made superb bobbins and many other beautiful things as well.

In the last few years, I expanded my range into more fiber tools, some of which were ideas I came up with in direct response to requests from my knitting and crocheting friends.  New ideas are in the pipeline too, so come back occasionally to see what is added.

Though I do use some exotic woods because of their tighter grain, which is better for bobbins, I make every effort to source these woods from responsible dealers who are helping to conserve the forests.

No one hates wasting wood, or seeing trees needlessly destroyed, more than a wood worker!

I am sure you can tell I am not trained as a photographer.  If you wish to see something in more detail, email me and I'll try to get a better photo.

Everything turned on this site is made by me; things like the pinwheels are assembled and finished by me.  I hope you enjoy it!
